September 2, 2006 (Press Release) --
The Freelance Writing Jobs blog started out innocently enough. Every day when Deborah Ng would troll the daily markets, she came across jobs that were perfect matches for some of her friends or colleagues. Instead of emailing jobs, she began to post them into a blog.
Not long after starting her blog, Ng began frequenting a message board for stay at home moms who were also freelance writers. What she found there made her very angry. Many of these talented women were being taken advantage of by “employers” who paid $2 to $5 for well researched articles. Deb began to share her blog with her fellow “WAHMs”. She vowed never to include any job paying under $10. It soon took on a life of its own.
A little over a year ago, Ng began her blog with a few daily links and ten to twenty visitors each day. Now, a little over a year later, Ng’s blog boast hundreds of links each week. In addition to having between 500 and 1000 visitors daily, FWJ has almost 200 subscribers. In June 2006, Freelance Writing Jobs won the Preditors and Editor’s Truly Useful Site Award.
Many visitors to her blog suggest Ng offer her freelance writing jobs leads as a paying service, but she isn’t interested. She knows to be just starting out, perhaps if she offers her blog for free $2 writing jobs will become a thing of the past.
