September 3, 2006 (Press Release) --
MoDomains, LLC is proud to announce the launch of BlackMissouri.com! The management team, led by Kimberly Kenya Kimbrough, looks forward to the challenges of marketing to the ever important ethnic demographics - African, Caribbean and African Americans in Missouri.
The site serves the purpose of providing a readily identifiable icon in the Show Me State by being a very comprehensive resource for Missouri based African, Caribbean and African American business, family and living information, news, education and more. Features of the site include a highly circulated e-newsletter, multiple tiers of advertising, a business directory, city guides, event calendars, current newsfeeds, scholarship program, and forums. Black businesses are encouraged to register with BlackMissouri.com. There is no charge to post events, classifieds, church links or business information on the website, but premium advertising packages are available for those seeking maximum exposure.
Missouri is unique in that the two metropolitan cities are on opposite perimeters of the state. The four hour distance between the cities makes it difficult for Black businesses to market outside of their immediate areas. A myth exists, too, that the Black presence is insignificant or non-existent in smaller towns. As the largest minority group in Missouri, Black Missourians tend to be scattered and divided by city and county lines. BlackMissouri.com is designed to dispel the myth and connect communities.
While business and finances are important, Kimbrough states that the site also has a deep respect for family and Missouri living. "We want to grow our business. However, community involvement is very important to us. We would love to know about your family reunions, your weddings and births, and your honor roll students. Too many times, our national and local media focus in on the negative, which leaves BlackMissouri.com a wide open door to promote the positive attributes in the Missouri Black communities."
"BlackMissouri.com is the ultimate African American web portal in Missouri," says Kimbrough. "It's time we found each other," she adds. "But in order to find each other, we must first create a common link."
Lastly, BlackMissouri.com hopes to decrease the digital divide, while increasing our community confidence in Internet based commerce. According to Internet surveys, African Americans represent the largest online segment of U.S. minority populations. "The uphill battle lies in getting our community's trust in online entrepreneurship and increasing mainstream advertising on African American targeted web sites." Kimbrough readily replies, "we are more than ready for this challenge!"
