No hit for Toby Keith with 'Broken Bridges'

After testing their acting chops in elaborate music videos, some superstars can't resist making that leap to the silver screen. Just ask Mariah Carey ("Glitter''), the fellows in OutKast ("Idlewild'') or country singer Toby Keith, who has the lead role in "Broken Bridges.'' Keith portrays Bo Price, a fading, nomadic, irresponsible, alcoholic country-music star.

Way back when Bo was a teenager, he abandoned his pregnant girlfriend, Angela Delton (Kelly Preston). She has since become a news reporter at a Miami TV station. When a military training accident claims the lives of 21 soldiers, including Bo's brother and Angela's brother, the estranged ex-lovers must return to their hometown of Armour Springs to attend the funerals.
Old wounds are reopened and personalities clash because Bo has never met his 16-year-old daughter, Dixie (portrayed with feisty zest by Lindsey Haun). The rebellious, caustic Dixie plays guitar in a rock band and, like her father, has a drinking problem.
Having been raised by a single mother in Miami, Dixie is a city slicker who must temporarily adjust to the molasses-like pace of rural life and process the anger she feels toward her father.
