September 17, 2006 (Press Release) -- Walt Disney Pictures is the flagship motion picture studio of The Walt Disney Company. It maintains a family-friendly image and generally only releases G and PG rated films, but in 2003 it released its first PG-13 rated film, Pirates of the Caribbean, which was based on a popular Disneyland boat ride.
In its relation to the main corporate structure, Walt Disney Pictures was only founded as a separate division of the company in 1983.
Walt Disney Pictures includes Walt Disney Feature Animation and DisneyToon Studios, and it is a part of the Buena Vista Motion Pictures Group.
