September 17, 2006 (Press Release) --
This is the mission, to bring attention to Sat., Oct. 21, 2006 I'm encouraging teen girls to Rally at their local breast Cancer Research Center for the TIGWA Rally. "We are heirs to the cure." TIGWA means HOPE in Hebrew and stands for "Today I Gain Womanly Assurance." Here in Colorado, we will Rally at Denver Rose Medical Center's Breast Cancer Research Bldg. (4700 Hale Parkway Denver, CO 80220) from 11am-1pm sending messages of encouragement to the researchers to find the key to cancer free, sharing survivor stories in art form and equipping young ladies with self health awareness information. Early testing saves the lives of men and women... ongoing awareness of your own health and bodily changes are even additionally important. Know your Health and catch the problems early... that is key.
The TIGWA Rally purpose is this:
1) put the heirs to the cure in the spot light. There is no greater motivator for finding the cure than seeing the lives of our babies who remain at risk. 2) I had my first mam only 17 years after my first bra ... think about it ... not even a generation past before I was scared by breast cancer. Young ladies need to be aware of female health issues as they develop into women and begin taking preventative measures as their breasts are maturing ... If we can talk to them about AIDS testing, we can talk to them about cancer, how to eat well early on, early detection through self health awareness and the dangers and struggles of women impacted by traumatic illness. 3) Open the door for young ladies to publicly discuss the impacts cancers have had on their families ... moms, older sisters, aunts, grand parents, etc.
So while adults are welcome to attend, I'm encouraging each and every person everywhere to be proactive and send the message to the girls ... many of them don't even know what breast cancer is or it's potential impact on their futures. Here is a raw fact, 1 in every 8 women is at risk of breast cancer. Translation: out of a high school of 300 girls 38 are at
extreme risk of developing breast cancer 9 will likely die.
It is time to spread the word ... let the message go from boarder to boarder, coast to coast, house to house, class room to class room ... "You are heirs to the cure" ... the war against cancer is color and creed blind ... We must ALL Be Aware!
This is my mission ... to use my art to build greater awareness to a larger community of the very real impact cancer has on the future of these young people. Help me spread this message in a bottle and forward this on to the moms of this nation. Anyone willing to help in the cause please contact me via my contact link. I'm in need of TIGWA Teen leaders and nurses willing to speak out on preventative health care and self health awareness. Women who have had breast cancer early are needed for testimonials. Ask someone today if they can help.
