September 20, 2006 (Press Release) --
"The fact that the errors on the onside kick altered the outcome of the game is most unfortunate and unsettling," Pac-10 Commissioner Tom Hansen.
Let’s be Honest
It had all the makings of a classic finish: a minute left in the game, the coach’s son performing the onside kick, and a group of hometown officials to engineer the victory.
Stuff like this has been happening for years. So why does it taste so bitter? Because “Instant Replay” was conceived to prevent exactly this type of “home cooking” in the first place! So how did it happen? Because the Pac10 (unlike most other conferences) allows Pac10 crews to officiate their own games!
In the case of the Oklahoma vs. Oregon game. Most of the officials were from the state of Oregon.....
Think about it: If the game were in Norman, and we pulled together a crew from Pawhuska, Mustang, Lawton, etc...
I’m not condoning what happened. But it’s easy to understand how blatantly poor judgment calls (cheating) happened when hometown refs got caught up in the minute.
Enter the Internet and Streaming Video Technology. Now the entire world has seen what happened. Is a 1 game suspension enough? No, College Football deserves better.
OU President David Boren is correct. (1) The game’s result should be nullified. (2) Those members of the officiating who got caught up in the moment and let their judgment lapse should resign. (3) The Pac10 should change their rules to prevent this from happening in the future. End of Story.

A new website (www.voidgame.com) was created in light of the mounting controversy surrounding the Pac 10 officiating violations last Saturday.
