Columbia, SC (September 27, 2006) - Hip-Hop is the victim of many stereotypes in the mainstream media, however, dedicated fans of the genre who have grown with the music know that culture is definitely universal. What is next for hip-hop? Enter the internet, the ultimate communication tool of the modern era. Search the internet for hip-hop music, and you will find a thriving underground, overflowing with artists who will change your perception of rap music with a single listen.
Many artists, particularly in hip hop believe that the only way to get exposure is to spend excessive amounts of money on advertisements through major rap publications, purchasing collaborations with major label artists, or blindly sending out unsolicited demo tapes and CD's to their favorite label with the hope that it will fall into the right hands rather than into the garbage bin. This is the computer age, where you can connect with the world that the simple click of a button. One group of hip-hop artists has taken note of this, and the world is quickly embracing the multi-talented group.
Andrew Laidlaw aka Configa, the current Ph.D. candidate and lead producer of the group from England, creates the backdrop for the lyricists. He formerly released two underground albums as a rapper under the name M.C. Unique. There is Rod Atkinson aka Wargasms, organizer-rapper slash soon-to-be attorney, hailing from Columbia , South Carolina, who is also the driving force behind the creative marketing techniques which has allowed the group to build an impressive resume and hundreds of thousands of supporters worldwide. Also there is Miami transplant by way of Maryland, Carlos Garcia aka C-Gully. He currently manages a production team, called AllKeys Productions and an artist named Fuego signed to Tego Calderon's reggaeton label, Chosen Few Entertainment . His artists have been featured on many successfully projects, including the Latin Billboard topping "El Draft" Compilation. Finally we have Mike Antonoff aka Arsenal, a native of the Mecca of hip-hop, New York City, who was previously signed to a now defunct independent label, but is still determined to have his words heard through his chosen form of artistic expression.
Together they form Slept On Fam. It's difficult to believe that these guys are not already signed and making a full time living with the music, but if their buzz on the web is any indication, it wont be long now. "Hip-Hop through the years has been constantly evolving, but right now its looking for that missing link, through the internet, we are bringing the pieces together and becoming that link. asserts Wargasms.
Slept on Fam has been working for the past few years on its landmark debut entitled Audio Crack featuring guest appearances from Chino XL, DZK, Warbux, Estee Nack, AthenA and Shiesty Crooks and which will be officially released on October 20th, 2006.
