Sexy Halloween Store Expands into new location. “We’re not a superstore, we cater to 18-35 year olds. Mainly females that want to look and feel sexy for that big party.” Said David Silber CEO of Pierre Silber.com. “We want to have the best selection and the best prices in the bay area”. For Pierre Silber, Halloween has become such a big holiday, they now have 2 locations in San Jose. “Last year we had so many people in our warehouse looking for our hard to find sexy costumes, this year we had to open a second location. Next year we are looking to expand between 5-10 locations”. Pierre Silber started as an online retailer over 10 years ago and has grown over 1000 percent. They have moved from 400 sq ft to 8000 sq ft. and will be looking to expand into 30-50,000 sq ft by next May. What makes Pierre Silber so special is their niche market. They do not carry the cheaper Halloween costumes you might find at Wal-Mart but Sexy Halloween costumes. “We strive to make our customer look as good as they can. If your going to take one night a year to dress up, make sure it’s sexy and make sure you pull it off”. At Pierre Silber, customers are able to work with a Pierre Silber staff member to find the correct outfit, shoes, nylons, and other accessories. They believe in old fashioned customer service. Everyone who comes into a Pierre Silber store should not be able to walk out until they feel confident with their selection.
Is creating a temporary Halloween store difficult? “Yes, we start Halloween preparations six months in advance. This includes, how we are going to design a store in a short period that is suitable and workable for our customers and staff. Then we have inventory, Halloween is only the month of October so there is no chance to receive any new merchandise. We have to pick and choose our merchandise correctly otherwise, we will end up with a bunch of sexy witches costumes that apparently were not so sexy to our customer”.
So what is the big costume this year? “Well, the race is not run quite yet and anything can change, but Pirate are definitely the front runner”.
Who exactly are your customers? Well, throughout the year we specialize in high heels and lingerie. However come September 15, we cater mainly to the 18 to 35 year old crowd. You will not find kids in this store. Although everything is suitable for all ages, if your not going to sell Star Wars costumes and little girl costumes, it is better to put a sign out front that says 18 and over. I am sure we get 16 year old girls in and there is nothing wrong with it, but we prefer to have a little older crowd. We mainly try to deter the mother bringing in their 8 year old son or daughter thinking we will have something for them. We want to kids that will be going to the haunted houses, local bars, parties etc. We want our customers to have fun inside our store and out.”
