Melbourne, Australia October 16, 2006 --‘eleVATE’ a dark psychological thriller, tells the story of an insecure loner who develops an unhealthy obsession with a voice activated elevator which leads to a disturbing connection.
Starring local Melbourne musician Mandy Kane in the lead role of ‘Rowly’, alongside Sallyanne Ryan (‘The Nugget’) and Angela Scundi, ‘eleVATE’ is Directed by Ben Shackleford and Produced by Shelley Egan and Lisa Raciti.
The Australian International Film Festival which runs October 21-30 at Hoyts Melbourne Central, features films which are the product of a year-long, worldwide search that meet a global standard of excellence. The AIFF is Australia's only truly international film competition and offers a competition of features and shorts.
After screening at the Vienna Short Film Festival and being named a Finalist at the “American Cannes” - the Moondance International Film Festival, ‘eleVATE’ had its US premiere at the Rhode Island International Film Festival and LA International Short Film Festival, both of which are Academy Award accredited festivals.
A joint production between LR Media and Crystal Screen Productions, ‘eleVATE’ is Ben Shackleford’s first foray into film, having worked in the Australian television industry for the past eight years. The successful trio of Ben Shackleford, Lisa Raciti and Shelley Egan are currently working on their first feature film which is scheduled to commence production in January 2007.
The Australian premiere of ‘eleVATE’ will be held at The Australian International Film Festival on Sunday October 22 @ 10:50am and Sunday October 29 @ 10:25pm (Session: shorts A). Tickets are available from Hoyts Melbourne Central by calling 1300 357 357 or in person from the box office.
