October 17, 2006 (Press Release) --
Reston, Virginia… A new, free online directory is quickly claiming the title of the largest work from home and telecommute website on the web.
BathrobeJobs.com boasts over 900 listings of companies that pay people to work from home – from W-2 positions to freelance gigs.
Looking for a home-based telemarketing or customer service job? No problem – there’s a list of at least 80 companies that regularly hire for phone-based work. Want to try your hand at freelancing? There are 10 pages of “freelance marketplaces” to peruse. Hoping to make some extra money working in a focus group or posting in online forums? Surfing the site, you can find dozens of companies to choose from.
Included on Bathrobe Jobs are companies that hire the skilled (such as programmers and technical writers) to entry-level positions in customer service and transcription. There is even a section that features companies that hire voice-over and telephone actors.
Unlike other sites, all of the listings are free to access. The site is the “pet project” of Melissa Brewer, a freelance writer based in the Washington DC area. “I work from home, and so do a lot of my neighbors,” Ms. Brewer explains. “But I’ve met so many people in my networking circles that have spent money on worthless websites that sell similar, but much smaller, lists at unscrupulous prices.” She says it is frustrating to meet so many qualified people that have a need to work from their homes, whether it is a family obligation or a disability that prevents them from seeking employment in the office world.
Bathrobe Jobs is different, she says, because the website is simply supported by ads. “I don’t know if it will make me any money, or not, but time will tell. If nothing else, Bathrobe Jobs will help others reach toward their own dreams of working from the comfort of their own homes.”
