Los Angeles, CA – October 24, 2006 – To celebrate the successful debut of Mick Fleetwood Private Cellar™ wine, Costco has invited Mick Fleetwood, the drummer and founding member of Fleetwood Mac, to participate in an extended tour of Costco stores to meet with fans and personally introduce them to his wines. Fleetwood will appear at sixteen stores beginning November 16th in Burbank and Van Nuys and concluding on December 22nd in Maui. During appearances at 4 stores earlier this fall, attendees reached into the thousands at each location and Fleetwood set records for celebrity events.
Mick Fleetwood personally selects the wineries for his signature vintages and collaborates directly with professional winemakers to create the finest blends. “I strive to create approachable wines,” says Fleetwood, “Wines that I like, that my friends like, and most importantly wines that most people appreciate. My signature wines are mellow and easy to drink. Wine should always be fun, never challenging. When everyone I know tells me they love my choices I know I’ve got a great wine.”
After years of critical acclaim and sales in Hyatt Regency Hotels, Gelsons Supermarkets and other establishments offering fine wines, Fleetwood’s wine label had it’s Costco debut this September. That debut was so successful, the program is now expanding throughout Southern California and Hawaii.
Mick Fleetwood Private Cellar began with the single vintage 1998 Cuvee, and has since grown to eleven vintages; three of which have sold out. This June, Fleetwood was honored with a “Best Wine” mention by the Wall Street Journal in a blind taste test of 50 celebrity wines.
For the debut, Costco made available seven vintages of Mick Fleetwood Private Cellar: the 2005 Chardonnay, 2002 Cuvee, 2004 Merlot, 2004 Barbara, 2005 Limited Edition Sauvignon Blanc, 2003 Limited Edition Syrah and 2004 Limited Edition Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir. For the Extended Tour, Costco will also introduce a 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon, 2005 Riesling and a new 2005 Sauvignon Blanc.
As a special Holiday program the wine will be available in two separate Costco Exclusive Gift-Box Packages. One is a two-bottle gift box featuring Mick’s 2005 California Chardonnay and 2004 Washington State Cabernet Sauvignon. Another, more limited edition package is the second edition of the six-bottle gift box featuring new wines. At each of the original four personal appearances the first edition six-bottle gift-box sold out in as little as 15 minutes.
