October 25, 2006 (Press Release) --
Finally, finally, finally we've gotten confirmation that TomKat will be making it official — i.e., getting married — on Nov. 18 at an undisclosed location in Italy. The announcement comes on the heels of more than a year of speculation as to when the celeb duo would finally do the deed. And in a further sign that Cruise is feeling the urge to get off his duff, the actor is considering a trio of films. The front-runner for Cruise's attentions is Lions for Lambs, a political drama about a platoon of U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan, which would likely feature Robert Redford both in front of and behind the camera. Cruise would play a congressman, with Meryl Streep as a journalist. Option No. 2 is The Ha-Ha, based on a novel by Dave King about a brain-injured and speech-deprived Vietnam vet (to be played by Cruise) who takes care of a 9-year-old whose mother went AWOL. Last but not least, Spike Lee is in hot pursuit of Cruise for his Selling Time, about a guy who sells off chunks of his life for the chance to revisit and mend his worst day. We bet we know which couch-jumping day Cruise would pick for that one. — Erica Cerulo.
