October 25, 2006 (Press Release) --
Thanks to the Oscar luck of Crash, it seems as though studios can't get enough of the Ensemble Cast. The latest ensemble flick, Battle in Seattle, just added Woody Harrelson, Ray Liotta, OutKast's André Benjamin and Martin Henderson to its roster, which already included Charlize Theron. It's all about the protest in Seattle in 1999 that brought the World Trade Organization's annual meeting to a screeching stop and eventually escalated into a riot involving the National Guard. The politically charged project, from first-time director (and Irish actor and Theron hubby) Stuart Townsend, will follow the lead of Emilio Estevez's upcoming Bobby in more ways than one: Not only will it focus on a dozen or so characters at the protest, but it will also gather its slew of big names with a budget of less than $10 million. — E.C.
