October 27, 2006 (Press Release) --
When a tourist gets a ticket in Fairplay Colorado they get a bonus. The peace office will add ten or more miles an hour to the ticket in order to make the fine even higher. Moreover, they do not inform you that you must pay within a few days or they add on another fee for being late. The average ticket and late fee adds up to be just under $100 dollars. Just by writing one ticket a day would bring in the revenue to over $30,000 dollars.
Ms. Emily Finzer is prompt to send out the letter that states she has received the money for the fine but now sends a dune letter for the late fee. If you speak with her on the phone she is nice enough to inform you that if you do not pay the fine that she notify s the State of Colorado and when you go to renew your license it will have to be paid at that time - with more fees of course.
Fairplay Colorado is a small town and needs to be resoursefull.
One of the employees of the local Museum says she watchs the speed trap from her perch at the museum.
Please refer to the speed trap exchange for more detailed information.
Please drive safe
