Migraines are severe, debilitating headaches that can cause nausea, dizziness and sensitivity to light and certain sounds. If you're able to figure out what triggers a migraine, you may be able to prevent one. Here are some common causes, courtesy of the Nemours Foundation:
Stress.
Some foods, including anything fried or fatty, some meats, cheese, chocolate, ice cream, aspartame or anything cooked in MSG.
Skipping a meal.
Consuming too much caffeine.
Smoking.
Changes in the weather.
Changes in hormone levels, including menstruation.
Getting too much or not enough sleep, or a change in sleep schedule.
