November 6, 2006 (Press Release) --
That is A LOT more hair, making this hair loss treatment very effective!
If you're already losing your hair and that bugs you, the sooner you start treatment the better. "It's easier to stop losing hair, than to replace hair that's gone," says Dr. Richard Strick, a dermatologist and UCLA clinical professor of dermatology.
Before a hair follicle shuts down, it first gets smaller and produces finer hair. So when you first notice that the hair on the top of your head or at your temples is finer than the neighboring hair, see a doctor. "Once the follicle has shut down it's difficult, sometimes impossible, to re-stimulate," Strick says. Propecia is a pill for men that prevents hair loss and improves existing hair. Both drugs have side effects and problems that should be discussed with your physician.
Propecia was developed to treat baldness in the top back and mid-scalp. There is no current evidence that Propecia works on the hairline or recession in the temporal areas. Propecia is available in 90 pill Pro-Packs and cost between $125.00 to $175.00 and must be taken daily for the rest of your life or until more effective methods become available.
Now for the surgical treatments. Hair transplants are the standard of care when it comes to treating hair loss. The best technique is one in which a strip of hair is removed from the back of the patient's head, assuming you have some to remove. This strip is then meticulously separated into hair units. These treatments in combination can work synergistically. The drugs work to halt the hair loss, while hair restoration surgery restores what was lost.
The effectiveness of PROPECIA was demonstrated in studies of men, aged 18 to 41, with mild to moderate hair loss at the top and middle front of the head. There is not sufficient evidence that PROPECIA works for receding hairlines at the temples.

Most Recent Education Drug Plans with Cialis by Eli Lilly
Putting a $2 billion bet on the male impotence market, Eli Lilly and Co. is buying out the Seattle-area biotech Icos Corp., which helped it develop the blockbuster drug Cialis. The deal, announced Tuesday, will give Lilly full control of the erectile dysfunction pill for men. Since it went on the market in 2003, Cialis has generated nearly $1 billion in yearly sales that Lilly and Icos now split. The takeover would mean Lilly will keep all the revenue, pumping up its total sales by about 12 percent.
Taurel said Lilly will pursue new indications for Cialis but did not specify what they would be. Cialis has captured more than 25 percent of the U.S. erectile-dysfunction market. Worldwide sales of the drug were $456 million in the first six months of 2006.
