November 6, 2006 (Press Release) --
Nashua, NH – November 6, 2006 – Gambit Communications, the leading network simulation tools provider, today announced the release of MIMIC® Simulator version 8.10. It now includes the support for 64-bit processors which lets it cross the 4GB virtual memory limitation of 32-bit applications.

"We have been using MIMIC Simulator for many years to simulate large and complex networks. It has been a vital part of our Network Management testing strategy," Said Nick Tkotz, S/W Designer, of Alcatel . "The addition of 64-bit platform support in MIMIC makes it even more scalable. It lets us run a large number of simulations in more than 4 Gigabytes of memory on a single MIMIC server machine. The addition of 64-bit support was crucial to our network growth and machine administration. This allows us to test our product(s) for next generation networks."

MIMIC supports SNMPv1, v2, v2c and v3, IPMI, DHCP, TFTP and ToD, Cisco IOS, TL1 and Cable Modem Simulation capabilities.

MIMIC 8.10 new features include:

# 64-bit executable support on Itanium IA64 and AMD x64 for Windows, Solaris/Sparc and Linux , allowing for large simulations going beyond 4GB of virtual memory.

# Support for a new protocol, IPMI. With this version of MIMIC you'll be able to simulate 10,000 IPMI-capable high-end server systems. The simulator supports IPMI 2.0 in addition to IPMI 1.5

# Tutorial Wizard - this will help you to become familiar with the basic features of MIMIC.

# New platform support for Windows Vista

# Complete IPv6 support for Windows XP, 2003. It was already supported on Unix (Solaris/Linux).

# Complete control over OID traversal through mimic action jump in GETNEXT action script. This allows testing in the face of non-lexicographic ordering of MIB objects.

# Support for the latest Tcl/Tk 8.4.13 scripting environment

# More than 1800 pre-compiled MIBs.

# Addition of many Cisco IOS command support to make simulation of Cisco devices closer to the real device

# New simulated devices and networks in the library

# Additional performance enhancements
