November 14, 2006 (Press Release) --
All right, it was a long shot.
But trust FLUFF: There was a time when the rich and famous knew how to let loose with a little style.
It's not a party these days until a celebrity gets in a fight, steals someone's boyfriend or gets arrested. (Or all three, if Paris Hilton made it past the door.)
It sounds like fun, but the repercussions can be serious. Party poster girl Tara Reid, for instance, recently landed on the cover of Us magazine to detail all the tragedies that had befallen her since she got caught up in the fast life.
The moral? Partying doesn't just lead to hangovers -- it can also lead to some horrific plastic surgery decisions.
So FLUFF is hereby staging a public intervention for celebrities in danger of going over the edge. Heed us now, before you end up in rehab (worst-case scenario) or the Olsen twins' swimming pool (best-case scenario).
Christian Slater
Party offenses: substance abuse, performing his own stunts
The headlines last year came as no surprise: "Christian Slater falls off roof at Paris Hilton's party."
That's just the way he rolls.
Slater always has been known more for his wild lifestyle than for his spotty acting career. There was the drunken car chase with the police in 1989, which culminated in a telephone pole crash -- and charges for evading police, driving under the influence and assault with a deadly weapon (his cowboy boots). In 2003 he was in the news again for patronizing a Vancouver strip club with Ben Affleck and Tara Reid. And as you can imagine, Las Vegas is not the ideal vacation destination for the actor; in 2003 he needed stitches after his wife threw a glass at his head.
"My mistakes do happen on a grand scale and very public level," Slater has said. "They're humiliating, embarrassing. But if nothing bad happens to you, you'll just continue to act ridiculous."
Somehow, FLUFF has a feeling there's more ridiculousness to come.
Avril Lavigne
Party offenses: drunkenness, outraged expectoration
And here we were worried that Avril Lavigne was growing up too fast. The "Complicated" pop star had been featured in magazine photo spreads for her lavish wedding to Deryck Whibley at the tender age of 21. Would she now write songs about suburban domesticity?
Ha! The feisty Canadian has become a fixture in gossip blogs for partying hard and taunting the paparazzi. Reports say she has a hard time staying on her feet but no problem at all shouting, flipping the bird and spitting in photographers' faces.

Remember when a Hollywood party meant singing with Judy Garland while Kay Thompson played the piano? Or drinks on the lawn at Bogey and Bacall's Holmby Hills house?
