November 15, 2006 (Press Release) --
On November 18th and 19th, San Francisco will host PodCamp West: A New Media Conference, a free meet-up for podcasters, bloggers, video bloggers and anyone else interested in the new wave of internet media. The event will be held at the historic Swedish American Hall in San Francisco. For more information and to register, go to PodCampWest.org. The event is free to attend, as long as you pre-register.
PodCampWest.org is being organized by Vic Podcaster of www.HotFromSiliconValley.com and Founder & CEO of Silicon Valley Podcasting Network (www.SVpod.net), a new media startup. The event will take place at 2174 Market St, San Francisco from 12 noon-6pm on Saturday, November 18th and Sunday, November 19th. For the PodCamp West attendees, there will be an 'after party' on Saturday, November 18th, from 6 to 8pm at the Cafe du Nord bar located in the same building.
The resounding success of the inaugural PodCamp in Boston has ushered in dozens of PodCamps across the continent, cast in the same mold. They are 'unconferences' or free meet-ups where the participants get to decide on the format and the content. Bloggers, podcasters, video-bloggers, experts and greenhorns or 'just curious' share whatever they can in the spirit of give-and-take. The wealth of what is presented spans the spectrum from basics to advanced/highly-specialized with Wiki making the process democratic and participatory.
“Welcome to the new media”, as Vic puts it, "With the media and advertising landscape shifting to new formats such as podcasts, web video, and blogs, there is already a significant impact on the traditional media, marketing and the entertainment industry. And, the new media market will only continue to grow."
This symbiotic exercise has generous contributors – SPodRadio and Kyptronics – who are jointly Gold Sponsoring for this event.
