November 16, 2006 (Press Release) --
(Southfield, MI). Change your mind then change your finances for December, January, and 07.
Are you wondering where you are going to get all the money for all the gifts? Do you feel overwhelmed? Have you been an “over-giver”? Are you using credit cards as income? Would you like to re-think this? You can! In Prosperity Thinking we are more concerned with responsible use of our income and having financial maturity than we are giving a large amount of gifts because “someone” expects them. Would you feel better during and after the holidays if you did not incur new debt? You CAN choose differently…if you get your ego out of the way…and take action to change!
Start 2 new traditions of:
1.) Giving a certain number of gifts (like half the gifts you used to give) within a predetermined budget. Then everyone in the family expects only that amount and if one gift is more expensive then the other 2 gifts are “small”. Would any one of your “receivers” be glad to receive that many gifts on any one day? This can relieve the burden of acquiring a large amount of possessions.
2.) Make one gift. We know of families that have the tradition of always making one gift…and it becomes very creative (and even competitive). They start earlier in the year and have fun planning and making this special gift…it could be a “stepping stone” for the garden with a favorite picture on it or a car washing kit with a bucket filled with essentials for a clean car, along with a gift certificate of your time to actually do a car wash.
Christian Credit Counselors, Inc. (CCC), a non-profit, offers FREE coaching and monthly tele-classes through their MoneyHarvest Institute to tackle stressful financial conditions. These services are open to the public in 46 states…and they are easy! Call1-800-557-1985, ask for Education.
“This is what I was hoping for. I’m excited about my changes. Thanks for the help.” M.B., Jackson, MI.
