“HECTOR!” PLACES IN WEBCOMIC IDOL!

November 16, 2006

THE STORY - A myth-bending webcomic, “Hector!” is one of the finalist in first-ever webomic competition by Bomb Shelter Comics.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) November 16, 2006 -- “Hector!”, the critically-acclaimed webomic by Richard Pulfer, Luke Perks and Emiliano Urich, first arrived on the webcomic scene in May. The webcomic tells the tale of William Moore, an average guy who wakes up trapped in a mysterious world wearing the armor of Hector of Troy. Now, seven months later, the webcomic has been honored with a finalist position in Bomb Shelter Comics’ Webcomic Idol competition. “Hector!”, along with nine other Idol hopefuls, have been chosen from nearly seventy other webcomic entries into the contest.

A webcomic imprint, Bomb Shelter Comics is offering the contestants a chance to strut their stuff on the digital stage. Each contestant will receive an podcast review of their comic on the week they are eliminated. The grand prize winner will receive his or her own re-designed site within the Bomb Shelter Comics imprint.

However, the casting of votes is very different from other contests. In order to prevent the larger fanbases from dominating the competition, voters are instead asked to decide who to remove from the competition instead of who to reward.

“Hector!” already faced substantial competition from other webcomics, including the zombie brawler “Zed Reckoning”, the devilish comedy “On the Edge” and the grisly artistic vision “The Bean Men”, to name a few. All webcomic contestants are required to update at least once week in order to stay in the competition.

The webcomic “Hector!” can be read in its entirety at www.risecomics.net. In order to cast a vote against the current ten standing webcomics, please visit www.bombsheltercomics.com.

Richard Pulfer, the writer of “Hector!”, holds a Bachelors of Arts in English from Northern Illinois University. Currently, he is a blogger at the entertainment site Screenhead.com. He has written articles for the Northern Star, the Valley Forge and the online writing e-zine “Coffee Break For Writers”. Richard will also soon be published in the Winter edition of the Rockford Review. He has been friends with “Hector!” co-creator Luke Perks since high school. “Hector!” represents their latest in a long line of creative endeavors in the field of comic books.
