Pumpkins CD rolling along
The Smashing Pumpkins are more than halfway home on their first album since 2000, drummer Jimmy Chamberlin said. ''I am happy to say that the drums are finished!'' he wrote on the Chicago band's MySpace page. Last week, he chronicled a ''magnificent guitar symphony'' from Billy Corgan featuring ''eight guitars resonating in one big harmonic handshake. It is still ringing in my ears this morning.'' The still-untitled album is expected in late spring.
Survivors sue CNN, Grace
Relatives of a mother who committed suicide after CNN's Nancy Grace aggressively questioned her about the disappearance of her son sued the network and the talk-show host Tuesday, accusing Grace of pushing the woman over the edge. Melinda Duckett shot herself to death on Sept. 8, one day after taping a segment on Grace's CNN Headline News show in which Grace interrogated Duckett about her whereabouts on the August day that 2-year-old Trenton Duckett was reported missing. The network aired the segment after Melinda Duckett's death. Investigators have since named Duckett as the prime suspect in his disappearance. Jay Paul Deratany, the lawyer for Duckett's estate, said Grace told Duckett the appearance would draw public attention to help find the boy. ''It's about the misrepresentation with the knowledge that she was emotionally distraught,'' Deratany said. In a statement, CNN Headline News said it fully supports Grace.
