November 24, 2006 (Press Release) --
London, United Kingdom, 24 November 2006. Trinidad and Tobago Professionals Network in the UK (TTPNUK) established under the auspices of Her Excellency Mrs Glenda Morean Phillip, London High Commissioner for The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, announces its first Healthcare Professionals Forum on opportunities in Trinidad and Tobago at the High Commission in London on 27 November 2006 at 6.30pm. The forum will also be recorded and made available on the TTPNUK website www.ttpnuk.com.
A delegation is on its way to England with a mission to bring home Trinidad and Tobago nationals who are health specialists and living abroad. This forum is been coordinated by TTPNUK Executive Member for Health, Ann Teemal in conjunction with the Ministry of Health and the High Commission in London.
Trinidad and Tobago Health Minister John Rahael is leading the delegation which has as its mandate the search for specialists’ doctors and nurses to return home to work in the health sector. As a result of new rules in Europe, jobs in the health sector should be given to Europeans first before non nationals. This could result in the contracts of Trinidad and Tobago nationals not being renewed in Europe. Through the TTPNUK network, the key objective is to ascertain the systems and incentives that would be necessary for the Public and Private sector organisations to create an attractive package that would persuade Trinidad and Tobago nationals and descendants to return home; whilst curtailing the flow of our highly skilled nationals out of the country to foreign shores.
TTPNUK founded by Nigel Guy and Ancil Barclay in May 2006 addresses all sectors and its vision is to enable foreign based nationals and their descendants residing in the UK to contribute towards the development processes taking place in Trinidad and Tobago. This in turn will lead to the creation of economic and intellectual wealth for all nationals.
A fourteen person Board & Executive team (http://www.ttpnuk.com/gpage.html ) manages the day to day running of TTPNUK representing all major sectors.
TTPNUK aims to enable the Government of Trinidad and Tobago, Tobago House of Assembly (Public sector) and Private sector organisations to have direct access of a skills and resource database and forum made up of self-registered nationals according to specified areas of expertise and professional interest. Access to this database will be protected and accredited access will be offered to all associated Public and Private organizations.
Similar forums for other sectors are due to be announced in the coming weeks with delegations from Trinidad and Tobago facilitating the same as the health sector. The organization will gain its strength from a strong belief in community and a commitment to its development through economic and educational development initiatives that support the global Trinidad and Tobago community.
