November 27, 2006 (Press Release) --
20th Century Fox, on behalf of MTM Productions, filed a motion today in Los Angeles Superior Court seeking unspecified damages for the unauthorized use of intellectual property relating to the TV series "WKRP In Cincinnati."
The suit names blogger Sam L.Parity, who writes for the blog "The Politics of Dancing," and claims that Mr. Parity used characters, situations and dialog from the classic television series without first obtaining permission from 20th Century Fox and its affiliates.
"He lifted the entire plot of the WKRP episode "Turkeys Away," and then tried to pass it off as a real news event. He ended up fooling hundreds of people, many who were concerned enough to call their local human societies to report the abuse of the turkeys," said a spokesperson for 20th Century Fox.
The case is scheduled to begin on January 22nd, 2007. Mr. Parity declined numerous requests to comment on these allegations.
