Denzel Washington received a nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role in CRY FREEDOM and the Oscar two years later for GLORY. His other notable films include MO' BETTER BLUES, THE PELICAN BRIEF, MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, CRIMSON TIDE, REMEMBER THE TITANS, JOHN Q, ANTWONE FISHER, and OUT OF TIME.
In 2002 Denzel Washington won the Best Actor Oscar for TRAINING DAY. Denzel seems to pick his film projects better than many stars, frequently appearing in projects that are popular and critical successes.

Denzel Washington was born on December 28th, 1954 in Mount Vernon, New York, one of three children of a Pentecostal minister and a beautician mother. Denzel Washington earned a degree in Journalism at Fordham University, but became hooked on acting while studying there.
Denzel enrolled at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco for a year, and then easily found acting jobs in many television productions, and was employed throughout the eighties in both film and television.
In 1982,Washington was hired to be Dr. Chandler on the show, "Saint Elsewhere," and the gig lasted 6 years. In 1981, Denzel Washington was in his first big film hit, "Carbon Copy."
