November 28, 2006 (Press Release) --
"My Asperger Soul" is a courageous account written by a woman that has suffered from Autism all her life. She was diagnosed with Autism in the 1960s, and was raised by parents that were ignorant and severely abusive. After being abandoned on the streets, committing suicide and flat lining for three minutes at the age of twenty- one, J. Darlynne Worsham survives to tell an incredible story of strength, but of failure as well. After struggling and fighting her way through college, she loses everything to Autism, and to a world that will not accept people like herself.
"My Asperger Soul" is unique in that it gives a close up of Autism and Aspergers as a disorder that is difficult to comprehend, and not a disorder that marks a perfect package of genius for someone's child that seems just a bit different or a bit smarter. Autism and Aspergers is a real battle with real sorrowful occurrences that have identifying stages in the areas of growth and development.
J. Darlynne Worsham is successful in identifying group dynamics, bullying behavior, group bullying behavior, attitudes of society, educators, employers, family, childhood isolation, and more within her real life examples.
J. Darlynne Worsham walks away from society and social contact to do what she had remaining in her life; paint the images of Autism. The front cover of “My Asperger Soul” is a painting by the author that was an attempt to capture the isolation and depression of Autism.
“My Asperger Soul” is a journey through naivety, loss of a sense of wonderment about life, a loss of hope, and a hear t that turns to an ethereal moment of death for answers. Could Autism possibly be a new kind of people? Could Autism be a new language or method of communicating? “My Asperger Soul” has clinical and personal information that combined attempts to uncover the deeper issues of Autism and Aspergers.
Autism/Aspergers is a profound occurrence happening on the planet, and needs to be understood by the masses. As a people, those with Aspergers, used interchangeably with Autism, have a lot to offer the planet. Aspergers needs to be looked at by linguist and those that understand the formation of language. Many good people with a message of peace are being totally ignored, and talents are being wasted as society continues to ignore Aspergers. Society causes the depression and isolation. Sometimes anger is the only thing that keeps a soul alive, but too many have committed suicide and given up. This is complete negligence and disregard for human life and human development by society, educators, and mental health professionals. “My Asperger Soul” speaks out to and beseeches society to a look at the incredible minds of those that have Aspergers/Autism.
