November 29, 2006 (Press Release) --
For most men, buying a gift for the women in their lives can be challenging. Is she going to tell you what she wants? You’re not that lucky. She may drop hints. Some subtle. Some incredibly subtle. The trick is to know what to look for. And what to look out for.
So how do you figure out what to shell out the cash for, amid the piles of gift guides and bad advice from a harried sales clerk?
The Bachelor Guy (www.TheBachelorGuy.com) has answers on everything from how to buy the right jewelry, to how to make your gift so personal she melts – as well as advice on what NOT to buy! He even has the best bets for the stuff guys themselves want to receive this year.
Do you know the most common mistake guys make when purchasing a gift this time of year? Eric Rogell, The Bachelor Guy, has the answers!
“Getting her the right gift can make her the envy of all her friends and elevate you to Most Incredible Guy status,” says Rogell. “The wrong gift condemns you to spend the next 12 months – if she puts up with you that long – as Mr. Thought-it-was-ok-to-give-me-a-Dustbuster-for-Christmas.”
In the interest of helping men everywhere spend the nights leading up to the New Year in the arms of a very grateful woman, he offers some gift-giving advice.
1. Pay Attention. I know. This goes against our very nature as guys. But if you look carefully, you’ll see that she’s giving out signals and dropping hints all the time. Loudly. Pay attention to the things she looks at when you go shopping. Pay attention to the TV commercials and magazine ads she comments on. Pay attention when she says, “That pendant would look really cute with my black dress.” The signs are there. Read them.
2. Make it Personal. You can spend a fortune on something that doesn’t interest her, or you can spend a moderate amount on something so personal, so fitting, that she melts when she opens it. Go for melting every time. A few years ago, a buddy of mine was stuck for a gift for a girl he had been dating a couple of months. He didn’t know her well enough to know her tastes yet, but he wanted to get her something special. She had just moved to his city from a tropical climate and was completely unprepared for the winter. So he put together a Winter Survival Kit, and included things like a knit hat with matching gloves and scarf, hot cocoa mix and mulling spices for cider, and a bundle of sticks wrapped in ribbon with a note that said, “Light and place in my fireplace to keep warm.” He spent under a hundred bucks, but if you saw her reaction you’d have thought he spent a million.
3. But Don’t Cross That Line. There is a fine line between giving a gift that is personal, and giving a gift that is way too personal. Giving sexy lingerie when you’ve been dating a few years? Personal. Giving sexy lingerie when you’ve been dating a few weeks? Way too personal
