November 29, 2006 (Press Release) -- Arthur James Galleries of Delray Beach, FL will open its 2007 season with an impressive three day event that will feature over 650 lots of fine art and decorative art. A major portion of the inventory, 182 lots, will be from the estate of well known Palm Beach resident and art patron Mary Louise McGovern Ford of Palm Beach, and Madison, CT. Also in the sale will be 65 lots of 19th century Meissen porcelain from the private collection of the owners of a high end shop in Palm Beach that has been closed for two years. Many of the items in this collection have not been seen in public in a number of years.

Portions of several other important collections will be offered including a collection of 18th and 19th century blue and white Chinese porcelain and 30 lots from a collection of very important Japanese ivory carvings from the 19th century Meiji period, the “Period of Enlightened Rule” from 1868 to 1912. In that selection is a 10in high ivory group estimated at $8,000/$12,000. Another estate will provide fine examples of English and American silver and 20th century paintings.

Other lots of interest in this wide ranging sale will be an oil on canvas by Vu Cao Dam, Vietnamese/French (1908-2000), $10,000/$15,000, an oil on canvas by Claude Vernard, French (1913-1999), $7,000/$9,000, a fine pair of Berlin KPM porcelain urns and covers, $4,000/$6,000, a Louis XV 18th century marble top commode signed by J. B. Reservations are accepted in advance with preference given to out of town visitors wishing to bid in person.
