December 3, 2006 (Press Release) --
A vast range of iPod-related products has sprung up, and this season they're all begging you to plug your iTunes into their iNgeniousness.
There are enough clothes with iPod pockets out there now, you'd think it was a "Project Runway" challenge. From apparel to gadgets to totally weird accessories, here's what's out there for your ears, bud.
iWEAR
Is that an iPod in your pants or are you just happy to see us? Everlast now makes Groove pants ($36, www.everlastwomens.com), with a pocket for stowing and plugging in your iPod. Best of show, though, are the Levi's RedWire DLX Jeans ($250, www.levisstore.com), featuring a built-in iPod docking cradle, joystick and retractable headphones. And, self-conscious folks take heart, they're designed so that iPod bulge is "virtually eliminated."
Perhaps you don't even feel like putting on pants. Doesn't mean your day will be silent. Stow your iPod in either the iBoxers ($22, playunderwear.com) or the iPanty -- which are "black lace lingerie with a pink ribbon and a removable pocket capable of holding an iPod nano, cash or other small personal items" ($12.95, www.thesexysociety.com).
Or try the Power Pouch ($29-38, shop.graciesgearandtraining.com), a line of sports bras with an iPod slot right, well, in the middle. Headphone cords can be routed through the straps.
Mari Dade even makes iPod Shirts (www.vickerey.com), featuring a special lil' pocket on the left arm. Good for workouts, if the price is right for you: $96!
Don't forget your f Lance Armstrong was out earlier this year endorsing Nike's iPod Sport Kit ($29, www.apple.com/ipod/nike). It comes with a sensor that slips into compatible Nike shoes and a wireless receiver that attaches to the iPod -- which then stores data on running time, distance, pace, calories burned, etc.
And just so you'll be covered head to toe, there's the iSoundCap ($29.95, www.isoundcap.com), a cotton hat with an iPod pouch and a sleeve for the earbud wires.
If you just want an iPod pocket on absolutely anything in your closet, then go for the PodDress ($40, www.poddress.com). It's an embroidered case for your iPod nano that you iron onto your dress, pants, shirt, tie, sock, undies, what have you.

The invention of the iPod was a watershed moment in American pop culture, sure. But that was just the beginning for the mothers of invention.
