London, 01 December, 2006: A new research has shown that the big-spending Britons would spend £ 351 each on presents for their near and dear ones this Christmas.
This year clothing would be the top ranking present followed by DVDs and music, books, toiletries and toys. Around 73 percent of Britons would be buying clothes as gifts in this festive season. This has been found from a study of Mintel.
According to a research, shopping would start early this year and meagre 33 per cent of consumers would be waiting till the last minute. There is also a rise in the internet shopping this year.
The number of Britons who are planning to use the credit cards, such as personal loans, overdrafts and credit cards to pay for their Christmas spending dropped to one in ten this year from three in ten last year.
The survey found that Britons were planning to spend more this year. The research also found that one in ten expected to spend more than £ 1000 for the Christmas spending. The surveyors also found that the consumer have better budgeting plans in place with 81 per cent confident that their festive credit spending will be paid off by March.
The consumers basically know about their budgeting plans this Christmas. They even know that the loans, which they would be taking for buying the gifts, would be paid off by March this year. These better budgeting plans of the consumers of UK can be appreciated and is a really good step to be taken.
