Astronaut Buzz Aldrin to appear on an upcoming “NUMB3RS” airing

December 7, 2006

Math mingles with science on primetime television.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) December 7, 2006 -- Santa Monica, CA (BonoVox PR) December 7, 2006 – Man on the moon Buzz Aldrin will make a special appearance on a future “NUMB3RS” episode. The CBS show highlights the convergence of mathematics and police work and is inspired by actual crime cases that are solved by using mathematical theories.

Running in correlation with the popular show is an educational outreach program entitled “We All Use Math Every Day” that was created by Texas Instruments (TI) in partnership with “NUMB3RS” and in association with the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM). “We All Use Math Every Day” features educational activities on their website developed by TI and NCTM based on the mathematics used in each “NUMB3RS” episode.

The didactic TI-initiated program was conceived with the intention of accentuating the versatility of mathematics as well as an effort to support math teaching. On the “We All Use Math Every Day” website, teachers can order a teaching kit and can access classroom activities prior to the actual “NUMB3RS” airing date. In equal fashion, students and parents are encouraged to get involved by watching “NUMB3RS” and identifying and discussing the many ways in which mathematics is applied to every day situations.

Aldrin’s cameo appearance on the show coincides with the launch of the new website for his ShareSpace Foundation, an organization that aims to educate individuals about space travel and advance opportunities for private citizens to explore space. Because both the ShareSpace Foundation and the program “We All Use Math Every Day” promote educational endeavors in the science and mathematics fields, respectively, Aldrin’s appearance will further emphasize the real life possibilities that science and mathematics offer.

Warbasse Design has been commissioned by Buzz Aldrin’s team to create the forthcoming ShareSpace Foundation website. Philip Warbasse, internet designer, developer and CEO of Warbasse Design, will craft the website to feature captivating interactive and educational tools so that people can experience space firsthand and learn about the future possibilities of affordable voyages into space. This imaginative foray into space will have parents, students and teachers as excited about the entertaining learning possibilities on ShareSpace as they are about the “We All Use Math Every Day” program.
