December 11, 2006 (Press Release) --
CambridgeSoft Corporation Introduces New Packages that add the ability to Search by Structures/Substructures and Internet Access to The Merck Index 14th Edition.
CAMBRIDGE, MA, December 11, 2006 – CambridgeSoft, the provider of the Internet Edition of The Merck Index 14th Edition, announced three new products today. These new products are configured to enhance the searching capability for chemists, biologists and pharmacists and range from $490.00 to $1,290.00:
The Merck Index 14th Edition Ultra (contains the Book, CD with Structure Searching, and Personal Internet Edition for the lifetime of the 14th Edition)
The Merck Index 14th Edition Pro (contains the Book, CD with Structure Searching, and Personal Internet Edition for three years)
The Merck Index 14th Edition Std (contains the Book, CD with Structure Searching, and Personal Internet Edition for one year)
The Merck Index 14th Edition reference set includes the book with a text searchable CD and a 1 year free personal Internet subscription, and is published by Merck & Co., Inc., Whitehouse Station, NJ, USA. Standard on The Merck Index 14th Edition CD is ChemFinder, CambridgeSoft’s industry leading scientific search engine that allows the CD to be searched by keywords, references, and numerical properties. CambridgeSoft is optionally offering The Merck Index 14th Edition/Chemists, an upgrade that provides the unique, powerful capability to search the CD to find molecules by fragment, sub- or full structures for similarity or exact matching.
The Merck Index: 14.0 Personal Internet Edition is an Internet subscription that provides immediate access to the data on the CD as well as updates. One free year is included with the purchase of The Merck Index reference set. The CD and The Internet Edition contain all the contents of the printed 14th edition plus nearly 1,000 monographs archived from previous editions.
Structure searching is precise and convenient and includes tautomeric full- and substructure searching. Structured searching finds matches using any of three modalities:
Search type (Normal/Exact/Similar)
Structure mode (fragment, sub- or full structure)
Bond type (Aromatic, Any, Tautomeric, S/D, D/A, S/A, etc.)
You can search for structures containing isotopic labels, or tetrahedral stereocenters, or other characteristics. The Merck Index 14th Edition/Chemists powers your ability to search for alternative groups, either in atom labels such as "(OH,H,CONH2,Me)" or drawn using the R-Group features of ChemDraw. Link nodes are supported, so you can search for variable-length rings and chains such as "(-CH2)6-8-" or multi-connected variables ("-R-"). You can now search for any type of single atom ("A, Q, X, M") or any group ("R").
