December 13, 2006 (Press Release) --
The morning started off with our First Community Mass at 10:30 a.m. with parishioners from all masses and choirs combined in unity to sing and praise the Lord.
Father Guyma gathered the Christ Our Family as you would for a family reunion. Father gave a spiritual filled uplifting homily on the topic of “Generosity” and giving from the heart. He thanked everyone for participating and reminded us to mark our calendar for 2007 Community Mass for next year!!
The Thea Bowman Visionary Choir directed by our own Director of Music Ministry Jack Tilson concluded the mass with thought provoking and signature song of the choir "Where do we go from here".
With the same spirit and vitality the parish family and friends gathered into Sister Thea Bowman Hall for Christ Our Hope’s First Smörgåsbord. The meal was prepared by parishioner's Kathy Starr and her family. Ms. Starr is a celebrated Chef and author of her own cookbook (see the website for more details).
The mood in the Sister Thea Bowman Hall was just like a family reunion with all the fixin’s you would have at a Sunday afternoon family meal. Ms. Leah Creque, our Mistress of Ceremony/Chairperson of the Stewardship Committee welcomed everyone to the event on behalf of Father Guyma and under the direction and planning of the Stewardship Committee.
Music was provided by the DJ and Christ Our Hope Choir member Eric Walter Smith.
Mr. Smith sang a rendition of Barry White's "You’re My First, My Last, My Everything” had everyone clapping along and dancing too! He serenaded us with his hit wedding song - “I DO” and sang his latest single “Gonna Love You Forever”!
This afternoon of fellowship, praise, song, fun, family, old friends and new friends, food and more food was a joyous and filling occasion. Everywhere you could hear the sounds of laughter. People waited patiently with excitement for their specially cooked meals and sounds of conversations and laughter were heard throughout the hall, down to the classrooms and even outside. We praise our Lord and continue to Thank Him for all He has done for this parish. It was well attended by all and will be remembered for years to come!
