December 20, 2006 (Press Release) --
Portland, Oregon (Billets Doux, LLC) December 20, 2006 – It’s hard to believe in the 21st century the world has yet to fully embrace diversity. With this in mind, brother and sister team, Gregg and Ry Zimmerman founded Billets Doux, LLC. Born in 2002, Billets Doux is a multicultural greeting card and luxury gift company. “We are proud to celebrate our society’s diversity, especially in times like these when our country is divided while at war. We do not shy away from the “touchy issues” and we hope to show people that it is okay to be who you are.”
Gregg and Ry grew up in a multicultural household with both siblings and parents of diverse ethnicities. It was this un-colorblind upbringing that cultivated or cultured their reality. “To be colorblind is to ignore the aesthetic display of a cultures beauty. Therefore, we like to say un-colorblind.”
“Our cards reflect our lives; meaning that everything we have been through will be artistically displayed on each and every card. With our signature ‘Love Letters’ collection we have cards for an array of occasions to include edgy titles such as: ‘Go Shorty… It’s Your Birthday.’, ‘Bonnie & Clyde’, ‘Forever’, ‘Mini Me’, ‘Adios’ and our trademark ‘Colorful Collage’ to name a few.”
“Whether or not you as an individual support the war in Iraq, it is certain that we all support our loved ones, and those who protect our virtues. Our Braveheart collection was designed to do just that; honor those who are present and those who have passed by incorporating their images and life stories on each card.”
“We are currently marketing our cards on MySpace™; they can be purchased on our website as well as select boutiques in the Portland area.” Staying ahead of the trend, Gregg and Ry have received a great response to their cards on MySpace™ where it seems everyone has a different favorite.
To answer the frequently asked question; How did you guys come up with this idea? “It’s easy. We didn’t… This is just who we are. This is our reality and we’re just doing what we know and see around us. We didn’t come up with an idea for some company, we were born into a culture; a diverse American culture. Furthermore, we saw a gap in a market that seemed to be completely ignoring the world as we knew it. We were determined to bring quality and diversity together in gifts that reflect not only ourselves but the people that we buy them for.”
This brother and sister duo seems to have thought of it all and is certainly covering all bases. It is fair to say that we will probably be sending Billets Doux to our loved ones in the very near future. Watch out Hallmark™ these two have got you in their headlights!
