It includes, for the first time in nearly a generation, the New York City Ballet. But its own treasures -- the Joffrey Ballet, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Luna Negra, Deeply Rooted, Ensemble Espanol, Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago, River North, Chicago Dance Crash, several classical Indian troupes and many other smaller contemporary dance ensembles and independent choreographers -- continued to thrive, with the Harris Theater for Music and Dance, the Dance Center of Columbia College and the Museum of Contemporary Art Theatre serving as fine showcases.
