Children love to hear tales, the reason f being, their limitless curiosity and incredible appetite for stories. Children are very perceptible and understand everything in terms of pictures and sounds. The formative years of learning are interesting to observe from a parents viewpoint. The parents see that children lap up anything that is like a tale, a story.
Experiments by psychologists over the last century have come close in unlocking the mystery of learning phenomenon. Pavlov popularized the term conditional learning.
Children learn fast if the stories are told in the form of lullabies, songs or jingles. The important thing to note is rhythm and rhyme. Human being is basically a social animal, and however advanced he may have become in terms of technology or learning, one fact remains undisputed. The fact that human beings have evolved from the animal kingdom, and the animals are instinctive beings.
Normally, human beings are supposed to use the right brain and the left brain in equal terms. In childhood especially it is observed that children learn more by using the right brain. Their eyeballs also point upwards while sleeping. This is predominantly an indication that they use more of their right brain, which is soft, intuitive, non judgmental, perceptive, visual and creative. It doesn’t however mean that left brain has no role. Left brain is very important, as the words, logic, routing and analyzing is done by it.
So children love to hear tales, and stories that give them knowledge about various aspects of nature and humanity. The stories make such a strong imprint that they form an inedible impression on the thinking and character of a person.
It is adviced by the wise that children be told good stories and soothing songs so that they grow up in a healthy environment,
