Israeli non-profit organization Efrat saves the lives of 2,623 children in 2006.

The Jerusalem based Efrat organization announced it prevented 2,623 abortions in Israel for the year 2006 by providing support to pregnant women in distress in Israel. There are close to 50,000 abortions in Israel every year many of which are due to economic concerns. The Efrat organization (hyperlink word Efrat to www.friendsofefrat.org) is celebrating its 30th year since its founding and has saved over 20,000 children in Israel since 1977. Every pregnant woman who qualifies for help receives free baby equipment including a crib, stroller and baby supplies, packages of monthly food and diapers for a year and is matched with one of Efrat's 2,800 volunteers.
