The nominees are culled from films completed between October 1, 2005, and October 1, 2006, from the global creative community. Last year, the ten (10) feature films selected as nominees by the Blue Ribbon Selection Committee were: "4" (Russia) directed by Ilya Khrzhanovsky; "Battle in Heaven" (Mexico) directed by Carlos Reygadas; "The Beat That My Heart Skipped" (France) directed by Jacques Audiard; "Cache" ("Hidden") (France/Austria) directed by Michael Haneke; "Death of Mr. Lazarescu" (Romania) directed by Cristi Puiu; "Fateless" (Hungary) directed by Lajos Koltai; "L'Enfant" (Belgium) directed by Jean-Pierre Dardenne; "Live and Become" (France/Israel) directed by Radu Mihaileanu; "Mrs. Henderson Presents" (UK) directed by Stephen Frears; and "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance" (South Korea) directed by Chan-wook Park.
The Hollywood World Awards® winner is selected by the members of the Hollywood Film Festival judging committee. The 2006 winner will be announced at the Hollywood Awards Gala Ceremony on Monday, October 23, 2006.
