FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) January 3, 2007 -- Pittsboro, NC (January 4, 2007) McIntyre's Fine Books & Bookends at Fearrington Village Center will host a panel discussion on “Learn How To Get Published” on January 20, 2007, at 11 am. Successful Lulu authors Jon Batson, K. Robert Campbell, Stacey Cochran, Gabriel Gurley, Lori Verni and Lulu staff will address the benefits and procedures of self-publishing, marketing on a budget and other information relevant to local writers. A book signing by the authors will follow.

Just as bookstore tourism is aimed at raising the visibility of independent bookstores, a group of North Carolina authors, headed by novelist Stacey Cochran, is promoting indie stores and authors by holding panel discussions on Getting Published. McIntyre's Fine Books & Bookends is the first of a number of bookstores requesting to be scheduled.

Independent bookstores have historically supported and cultivated the work of independent authors and poets. Chances are if it were not for bookstores like McIntyre’s, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Jack Kerouac, and Allen Ginsberg would not enjoy the celebrity they did.

Jon Batson, (JonBatson.com) author of The Rands Conspiracy, Who's Who in America listee and one of the panelists, says he publishes his books through Lulu.com, a producer of print-on-demand books in Morrisville, NC because, “Lulu makes it easy for me. They don't charge up-front fees and I retain control of my content and especially my copyrights; which as a songwriter I know is important.”

McIntyre’s features an exceptional collection of fiction and non-fiction from local and nationally recognized authors, young adult and children's books, lifestyle books, a fabulous mystery section and more. The English library setting with a fireplace, wing backed chairs and clusters of cozy rooms is perfect for browsing. In addition to regular community events like Pre-School Story Hour and Pete's Literary Open Mic Nights, the store hosts special events with fantastic authors and poets throughout the year.
