January 7, 2007– Cleveland, OH – Emmy winning writer Alex P. Michaels says, "When I use to make indie films, I wanted to be like Woody Allen or Spike Lee. Now I'd rather be Dick Wolf (producer/ creator of "Law & Order")" Michaels has created "Out of Darkness." A cop/sci-fi drama with an ensemble cast that shoots in Cleveland and is broadcast on Time Warner Cable in Cleveland on Channel 17 Saturday morning at 12:30am.
Using a form of product placement known as "branded entertainment," Michaels production company Prelude2Cinema has integrated paying sponsors into the series. Lucy's Sweet Surrender, a real life bakery near Shaker Square where real cops frequent is used in the show as the hangout for the cops of the fictional Seventh District. Massimo da Milano, an Italian Restaurant and home to functions by the real life Mayor served as the backdrop for a press conference by the fictional Mayor of Cleveland. The Velvet Dog, a nightclub in the Warehouse District home, served as a location for a few scenes and to eight cast and fan parties .
"We want to add to our current sponsors" says Michaels. They are all still involved and appear in the show. I love them dearly, but they are all small businesses like Prelude2Cinema. I can't expect them to provide a full budget for "Out of Darkness" and run their business as well. This city has a large number of huge companies and by sponsoring a Cleveland TV Series they could help put a lot of creative people here to work. Otherwise, everyone will have to leave soon and go off to California or New York to in order to work in TV. We can't afford to have any more talent leave the city " In order to attract corporate sponsorship, Prelude2Cinema plans to submit two episodes which aired last year for the Emmys. Michaels is a member of the Lower Great Lakes Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences .The new name of the Cleveland Emmy chapters which serves Bloomington, Ft. Wayne, Indianapolis, Muncie, Indiana; Akron, Canton, Cleveland, Lima, Mansfield, Toledo, Youngstown, Ohio; Erie, Pennsylvania.

Episode Four is scheduled to air January 27th, but must be delivered to by Network January 22nd, 2007. Ads must be "broadcast ready."
Prelude2Cinema is currently finishing the first season of "Out of Darkness" 13 episodes. Episodes five and six are nearly finished and the production company is currently shooting three other episodes.
