"EZABETH" - Lady of the Dawn © 2006 STAN RIMER - ALL RIGHTS RESERVED - WGA/Writers Guild Registration # 145306
SYNOPSIS
The moon is bright and the story starts in ancient egypt with sounds of laughter, dancing, wine and festivities. Not far off from Egypt, there is a caravan bringing women who have been captured from cities afar by Pharaoh's slavers. Certain women are transported in horse drawn cages and many others afoot chained to slave rods in route to Pharaoh's palace as slaves and sacrifices. Some have been abused and whipped.
The last wagon has fallen behind numerous times as the driver works on his jug of wine. The wagon slows to a stop. The others in front continue to move towards egypt not more than 20 kilometers to the city. Several slave women work to open the cage door as the driver falls unconscious to the ground. All the captive women in the wagon free themselves and run into the dusk.
Ezabeth, Warrior Princess of Sid, Lady of the Dawn, is among those few fortunate to escape the slavers and finds her way to a camp and stops to rest upon a rock nearby. She gazes into the fire and reminisces over the events of her love Mortor and the destruction of her city. Having been betrayed by her love and the vixen Lana through deception and sin, Mortor was the only man she had given of her heart and was killed by Pharaoh's men. Ezabeth is enraged and infuriated and vows to curse Egypt, Lana and the world as she begins to cry on the rock.
A small man approaches unnoticed from the camp and begins a magical song, calling Ezabeth by name with the sound of the wind. Ezabeth looks up to see a small man standing near her and he begins to tell her he is Orion, the Wizard of the Nile as he spouts his say.
Ezabeth, Ezabeth, Lady of the Dawn, Live you may live, life to be long. Sleep now awhile, for two hundred years, true love you must find, or three hundred more years. From your lips cold, the lady will sing, time keeper, time keeper, fear you shall bring. War from your rage, in fire you stand, tempest from sorrow, throughout all the land. Earth shall she quake, oceans subside, age you shall not through the years as you bide.
Orion spends time talking with Ezabeth and sets time upon her as she is transformed by Orion to the first element and given supernatural powers beyond all reason. Orion has set the hands of time upon Ezabeth in her moment of rage. Ezabeth begins to sleep for her first 200 years and is bound to the tree of time that is guarded by the winged serpent Marcabus.
Lana has been taken into egypt and wins favor with the Pharaoh. Lana is free to roam the temples of egypt and becomes aware from the "Witch of the Stone" or Bush Witch that Ezabeth has been bound to the tree of time and if Ezabeth finds true love when she awakens, she will be released from the tree by Orion and Lana must take her place.
