Tennessee Certified Industrial Sites - Construction Ready Buildings & Commercial Sites
For_Immediate_Release:

January 17, 2007 (Press Release) -- West Tennessee Industrial Association (WTIA) and Middle Tennessee Industrial Development Association (MTIDA) have announced 31 industrial sites in West and Middle Tennessee that meet the criteria to be Deal Ready® Certified Industrial Sites. To qualify as Deal Ready, a site has to pass a rigorous evaluation process. A certified site is guaranteed to meet or exceed typical criteria required by industries seeking a site for immediate development.

Local economic developers submitted sites for review and provided more than 100 types of information on each site. The sites had to be proven free of ownership and transaction issues, free of environmental issues and had to meet the infrastructure requirements mandated by the Deal Ready program.

After a process including an in-depth, two-stage desk review, and a site visit, 31 sites have been certified. WTIA and MTIDA, economic development organizations for the power distributors in the region, engaged the nationally known engineering and site consulting firm of CH2MHill Lockwood Greene to serve as the third-party evaluator to certify the initial group of sites.

“Certified sites programs are the cutting edge of the economic development practice,” notes Jennifer Tanner, project manager for CH2MHill Lockwood Greene. “Although only a few programs exist today, certified sites are quickly becoming a best practice.”

Robert Pittman, senior principal at Lockwood Greene who has assisted many corporate clients in locating sites says, “You can expect credibility, speed in decision making and reduced risk from a Deal Ready certified site.”

“We want the Deal Ready seal of approval to be instantly recognizable for sites that can be fast-tracked and that hold no surprises,” said Mike Philpot, Executive Director of WTIA.

“The number of sites that were certified is very impressive. West Tennessee and Middle Tennessee have certified sites that range in size from 50 to over 1,000 acres. With these sites plus spec buildings and other available properties in our region we can accommodate a wide range of businesses,” says Bill Shuff, Executive Director of MTIDA.
