Is there any better way to follow the Bears to Miami than in an RV?

You meet fans along the way. You can spend quality bonding time with your fellow "Wheel People."
On Sunday morning, I climbed into a 2007 Fleetwood Tioga RV with my road pal, Angelo. Our mission: Get to Florida (fueled by the spirit of Wayne "Goin' Back to Miami" Cochran). We picked up our 31-foot home at Crystal Valley RV, on the border of Island Lake and Wauconda.
Every cool motor home needs a nickname. We have christened our home the Fleetwood Mac in honor of Bears majority owner Virginia McCaskey. Go Bears!
Our first stop was the Indy Lakes Campground, eight miles from downtown Indianapolis. NapTown is going nuts over the Colts. Today, the city launches "Super Blue Week" on "Super Bowl Monday" in that wacky Monument Circle that spins like a Rex Grossman spiral around downtown Indianapolis. A city delegation and Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels are also road-tripping to Miami, as Indianapolis considers a bid to host Super Bowl VL (45). If we see them, we will give them one of our Sun-Times "Go Bears!" placards.
At Cruise America, 612 U.S. Highway 41 in Schererville, Ind., fans can still rent an RV that sleeps up to seven for $1,760 (round trip, not including gas) for Feb. 1-6. As of late last week, Cruise America (www. cruiseamerica.com) had rented 19 of its 22 RVs to Super Bowl fans. "People started calling the Sunday night after the Bears and Colts won," said Julie Milos, a 42-year-old Bears fan who owns the Schererville franchise. "About 80 percent were Bears fans. The Kentucky Derby and the Bonnaroo Festival [in Tennessee] are big for us. We rented an RV to Chris Robinson [Black Crowes] when he got married [to Kate Hudson] a few years ago.."
Our main purpose is to follow the scent of the pigskin to the Sunshine State. We will not punt. We will not get sacked. We will prevail.
