“ChildrensBookRadio.com, a podcast about Children's Books has garnered listeners in 49 countries in a few months period.

LOS ANGELES – January 31, 2007 – In an unprecedented effort to provide parents, students, and anyone with an interest in reading Childrens's Books superb audio content, Childrensbookradio.com provides an informative look at many popular as well as less known children's books. This discussion on children's books is available via a free syndicated online broadcast, called a podcast, at Childrensbookradio.com.
The podcast, available by subscription and easily downloadable through iTunes and other podcast directories, links parents to a friendly mother of twins who describes what books she has discovered to both read to her children now and as they get older. .Sabrina Weissler, the host, provides a parent-focused perspective on books from poets such as Shel Silverstein to contemporary writer Andrew Clements. She has already released five podcasts starting with her first podcast which she claims is a must listen given her love for the focus book of that week, Roxaboxen . This podcast series has attracted an average of 1,000 listeners a week and has grown each week.
Podcasting is perfectly suited to parents as it is available to download to any MP3 player, giving those with a busy lifestyle the benefit of listening to a podcast at a time that they find convenient. Sabrina came up with idea of this podcast after listening to various podcasts and realizing that there is no parent focused, non academic podcast out there covering this genre. She admits that the fact that she created another successful child focused podcast LAwithKids, that she was able to jump right into this venture.
“I am really interested in children's books, and podcasting and this podcast is appealing because of the amount of time I spend trying to find the perfect books to read to my grandchildren,” said Steven Goodman, grandfather of four . Steven continues, “The host is very friendly and down-to-earth. I really enjoy hearing her book selection.” Sabrina loves that his podcast has established a global audience and hopes to build a lasting relationship with them. While currently the podcast features mostly Sabrina's books choices, plans are under way to allow listeners to become part of the show through interviews, survey's, and eventually message boards.
The first five episodes contain information and reviews about various well-known and lesser known books. The shows emphasizes parent-focused points of interest for each book. When a book turns out not to so kid-friendly, or simply not that interesting the host is quick to mention this as well.
Childrensbookradio.com, is meeting its goal of educating parents about childrens literature and hopes to reach a weekly average of 20,000 listeners by Summer 2007. While there are other podcasts focused on children's books, Childrensbookradio.com is the only podcast that does not come across as too academic or preachy.
