February 1, 2007 (Press Release) --
The Twinkle Tots Digital Soother Thermometer is an attractive baby's dummy cleverly housing a
digital thermometer, so accurate temperature readings can be taken without a
traditional invasive thermometer inserted into rectum or mouth
The Twinkle Tots Digital Soother Thermometer is designed to be easy to use
and give fast, precise readings. Features include an auto shut off function
and a last reading memory. The thermometer will emit a beep at the optimum
temperature and can also monitor temperature while the child is sleeping.
The product is lightweight and battery powered, so it can be easily carried.
Hamzah Islam, who set up Twinkle Tots along with his twin brother,
commented: "Our market research showed that many parents find it difficult
to monitor their child's temperature and are reluctant to insert
thermometers into a baby's rectum or mouth when the baby is already unhappy.
We wanted to create the easiest possible way to screen a child for fever, so
we created a thermometer that's a little less intimidating for the child."
The Twinkle Tots Digital Soother Thermometer has been well-received by
paediatricians, including Dr Rebecca Houston of Dallas, USA, who said: "The
Digital Soother Thermometer may be the best way of screening a child for
fever."
The product is being introduced nationally after successful trials in the
West Midlands, where it was popular among local pharmacists. Dave Brooks of
MW Phillips Pharmacy in Sutton Coldfield said: "It is a great idea. I have
no doubt that this product will be a big hit among parents throughout the
country."
Twinkle Tots has received acclaim for its original products since its launch
in 2006, winning the runner up position for best business start up in the
National Healthcare Technology Awards 2006-2007.
The Twinkle Tots Digital Soother Thermometer is available in independent
pharmacies nationwide at a recommended retail price of £4.99. It is aimed at
children aged 0-4 years.
