Weekend to End Breast Cancer participant features 14 year survivor on her online radio show.
For_Immediate_Release:

February 5, 2007 (Press Release) -- Beverly Kirkhart was living the American Dream. She was married to her college sweetheart and owned a beautiful bed and breakfast only steps from the Pacific Ocean. After seventeen years of living a fairy tale existence her world came crashing down in 1991. Her marriage was ending in divorce, and her business crumbled and she lost her home when she was forced to file for bankruptcy. Just when Beverly thought it couldn’t get any worse, it did. Her doctor gave her the terrible news that she had breast cancer.

“I, like most others diagnosed with breast cancer, was totally stunned,” Beverly recalls. “At first I was in denial and then when the reality sank in I thought that it was a death sentence,” she says. Beverly may have been knocked down but not for long. The support of her doctors, nurses, family, and friends got her through the grueling chemotherapy and radiation treatment.

Six months after her final chemotherapy treatment, Beverly undertook a monumental challenge. She and a friend entered a 100 mile bike ride up the Santa Barbara coast. She wrote in a journal and placed motivating messages all over her walls during her training period. The day of the ride came and the conditions were difficult.

“You will have to tune into the show to find out what happened on the day of the race and how Beverly made out,” comments show host Marlo Boux. “My hope is that people will tune in to this interview and then donate to breast cancer research,” Boux says. Boux is participating in the Weekend to End Breast Cancer 60 kilometer walk in Winnipeg, Canada this June. All donations go to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation.

Beverly Kirkhart is a motivational speaker, author of ‘My Healing Companion’ and co-author of ‘Chicken Soup for the Surviving Soul’. To listen to the online radio interview with Beverly and to donate to breast cancer research, please visit www.smallbusinessmoms.com/onlinejournal.html.
