February 7, 2007 (Press Release) --
Swiss watchmaker Raymond Weil has sued Charlize Theron, accusing the actress of violating a contract to wear its high-end watches and none other.
In court papers filed late Monday in state Supreme Court, Weil said an endorsement deal allowed the company to use Theron's photographs in its advertisements in exchange for ''substantial funds."
Meanwhile, Theron had an endorsement deal to promote a Dior perfume, Weil's lawsuit said. The actress was photographed wearing a watch from the Christian Dior line at a 2006 film festival news conference in Austin, Texas, court papers said.
The lawsuit cited other incidents as well.
A spokeswoman for Theron did not return a call requesting comment.
