The one-of-a-kind golf tournament was inspired by Vegas' emergence as one of the nation's top high-end golf destinations.
For_Immediate_Release:

February 11, 2007 (Press Release) -- The Palms Hotel and Casino, one of Las Vegas' premier resorts, will host the first Vegas Cup 2007 Pro-Am April 22-26.

Teams of five, with one professional joining four amateurs, will compete over four days on three Sin City golf courses - Bear's Best Golf Club, Dragon Ridge Country Club and TPC Canyons - for the right to be crowned the King of Vegas.

The format is Best Ball, Vegas Cup Rotation and Vegas Scramble. The professionals will compete for a $25,000 purse, with $7,500 going to the winner.

Players get four nights at The Palms Hotel and Casino, home of the new Playboy tower and the Celebrity Poker Challenge; an invitation to a welcome party and awards dinner; transportation to and from the courses and a daily on-course lunch. The entrance fee is $2,999 a player for single occupancy and $2,749 for double occupancy.

The one-of-a-kind tournament was inspired by Vegas' emergence as one of the nation's top high-end golf destinations, with courses by star architects such as Pete Dye, Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer. The three tracks selected for Vegas Cup 2007 Pro-Am can stand with the best in town.

Bear's Best, a Nicklaus design, is only 25 minutes from the Vegas strip. A replica course, it made TravelGolf.com Senior Writer Chris Baldwin's list of Las Vegas' top 10 golf courses.

"If a replica Eiffel Tower can attract tourists, why not a golf course with 18 Jack Nicklaus copy holes?" Baldwin wrote. "Bear's Best draws snickers from some architects, but regular golfers love it as much for the attentive service and course conditions as any design gimmicks."

TPC Canyons, the only public PGA Tour facility in Las Vegas, is also on Baldwin's list. It most recently hosted the tour's Las Vegas Invitational and is known for excellent conditioning and a beautiful layout.

Rounding out the Pro-Am trio, Dragon Ridge is a par-72 Jay Morris-David Druzinsky design that sits in the MacDonald Highlands.
