February 14, 2007 (Press Release) --
Action Aviation, the expanding international aviation group which specialises in the marketing of new and pre-owned high performance fixed-wing and helicopter aircraft will be exhibiting at the 6th annual International Aerospace and Defence Exhibition Aero India in Bangalore this week from 7 to 11 February (Hall J J2.5a) – having identified the region as ripe for growth.
India’s booming economy has led to a steady increase in the number of business jets operating in the country. There is new wealth in the region and Action Aviation believes that the number of aircraft flying will double next year – up to 300 units.
“Traditionally, the luxury market has been for the elitist few, but as globalisation moves on apace, new markets develop and alter. India is one such market that is creating a new generation of travellers who can afford to fly in style. We believe the Indian market will develop quicker than China, another significant new market,” says Action Aviation Chairman Hamish Harding who will be in Bangalore.
He cites the initiative to increase the number of airports available for commercial use, which can only benefit business aviation. There are some 100 airports in the country but only about 24 in full use. The Indian Government has already taken steps for the restructuring and modernisation of airports starting with Delhi and Mumbai and also for establishing new greenfield airport sites. The first phase of the modernisation of the two airports is expected to be completed by 2009. In addition, two new international airports are being developed through public-private partnership at Bangalore and Hyderabad. GOI is also planning to modernize 80 domestic airports over a period of time.
Action Aviation, is promoting the use of its MD helicopters as luxury VIP, utility/medevac and corporate air taxis, in addition to the unique characteristics of its luxury high performance Swearingen SJ30 business jet which has a unique range of 2,500 miles and a high speed cruise of 486 knots. Action Aviation is the distributor in 66 countries for the SJ30.
“We see an important role for high performance aircraft like the SJ30,” says Hamish, highlighting the fact that range and speed are two of the key elements required by clients. The company will shortly open a dedicated office and sales representatives in India and is confident of more orders following in the near future.
The SJ30 can fly 2,500 nautical miles nonstop in around five hours, for example – from any point in India to any other point in India or to Dubai and Singapore - at a lower cost per mile than any other business jet in its class. The SJ30 is single-pilot certificated and has a total of seven seats. Its four rear executive seats recline to form a fully flat double bed. This makes for a very comfortable private cabin for those longer, India-Europe flights. (The SJ30 also boasts a private flushing lavatory.)
