Carrie Underwood, the country singer who stole the hearts of Americans and American Idol judges won a Grammy award for best female country performance for her song "Jesus Take The Wheel."

Underwood was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma and grew up in the Creek Nation town of Checotah. She is a citizen/tribal member of Muscogee Creek Nation of Oklahoma.
“This is absolutely unbelievable,” Underwood said in accepting the prize for best new artist. She thanked God, “American Idol” creator Simon Fuller, Joe Galante and various others, including Clive Davis and the “Idol” show itself.
